Lightroom freezes after a 4 or 5 exports

Hi,
After processing pics in Lightroom, I export them to my hard drive. I find, though, that after exporting about 5 pics, I find the export of the next pic is very slow (the coloured wheel of my Mac appears), and then about 2 pics later, the program freezes completely. Right now when the export begins to show the coloured wheel, I quit the program and re-open it to continue to process my (raw) pics. Is there any other solution?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Liyen, sorry to hear you're having trouble.

So is this a single export of lots of images, or separate exports of 1 image each? I'm not aware of any known export bugs on the Mac version. Are they going to an internal hard drive or external?

What are the settings in your export dialog when this happens? Perhaps you could attach a screen capture of the dialog. That might help in figuring out what is going on.

@Victoria, it is separate exports of 1 image each, and they are going into an internal hard drive.

I've attached a screen shot of my Export window, I hope this may help.

Ok, suggestion for you Liyen. How about marking the images that you want to export, perhaps using the Quick Collection, and see if it works properly as a single export of multiple images.

Don't see anything unusual in your dialog. Couple of questions...

Is there plenty of hard disk space available on your drive?

Did the problems start occurring after you recently upgraded to OS X 1'.5.3?

Is each individual export completing before you start the next one, or are multiple simultaneous exports going on at the same time?

Thanks again for both your quick replies. @Victoria, I tried your suggestion, and that seems to be not a problem. So I can just process a bunch of photos in Lightroom, then export all of them at the end of the session. This is fine as long as I want all the exports to go into one folder, but not possible if I jump around in my processing and have to save each photo into a different folder in the hard drive. Still seems strange to me that I can't do it one image at a time for more than a few exports before freezing....

@jimburgess, yes there is plenty of hard disk space in my computer (about 2'' gigs); it's a brand new iMac, so it's on it's first OS, no upgrading necessary; and in answer to your 3rd question, I do indeed wait for an individual export to complete, as I have been selecting photos from different folders to process (I get bored easily working on one photo session, hence I have been processing and exporting one photo at a time). Perhaps I will have to change my workflow, hehe...

Seems a little odd to me too Liyen - I've heard a few reports of people having trouble with more than 5 exports on the Windows version, but never on the Mac version before.

I often have 9 or 1' exports running in one go, but it might be interesting to keep an eye on your RAM usage on Activity Monitor - you may find that you're maxing it out and more RAM would help.

Thanks for your reply. I don't think it's a RAM problem, as I have 2 Gigs of it, and I only have Lightroom running at the time I'm using it. It's a mystery, for sure...
