I gather there is a problem, which prevents backing up onto Time Machine. Is there any sign of an update which will sort this out?

I currently have my LR catalogue duplicated on the main drive of my mac, obviously I would rather have the duplicate/back up on the spare drive.

I believe it's not so much that it WON'T back up, but it could cause corruption if Time Machine tried to back it up particularly while it's open. Sounds to me like that'll have to be an Apple bug fix.

I use Chronosync backing up my database to another drive automatically overnight, which works a treat.

I have a feeling that you can create another folder at the root level on your TM drive to be able to place other files - so you could put your backup there. Do double check that before you do it though!

And welcome to the forum David!
