Hello... I have a lightroom catalog that has both raw files and the jpg's that imported with the raw files. My question is, is there any advantage to keeping the jpg's that were imported into lightroom OVER deleting the jpg's and exporting jpg's via lightroom at a later date?

My take of JPEGs from the camera is that they were processed using settings available in the camera processing software. I’m of the opinion that Lightroom Classic has far superior tools for developing a better image.

In light of that, toss all of the JPEGs that are sidecar files to an original RAW image.

I used to use jpgs for travel / laptop use …. just to keep tabs on what I am shooting / capturing. I only import raw to my main catalog when I get home.

Modern cpus and GPUs and availability of larger and faster storage devices has meant that old workflows become obsolete more quickly.

My travel workflow is under review.

For my ‘photography’ I only shoot RAW but on days out, trips etc I often shoot both as the jpgs can be handy for quick turnaround for social media, but then are mostly deleted.

Depending on your camera, Many RAW formats include a fullsize JPEG Thumbnail. These can be opened in FastRaw Viewer or a similar program and saved as a JPEG if needed.

That is a good point but feels like extra work unless your workflow already includes a 'viewer'.
It is the best I could come up with. I don't shoot RAW + JPEG as it slows down imports. If I want something quick for social media, I would just export the RAW as a JPEG with little editing

Yes, I've often just used the RAW to create quick jpegs, I've even done an Auto develop before exporting then resetting the develop settings before editing properly. As for the delay importing I just make a coffee :-)
