Lightroom Disabled Elements??

I downloaded LR from the website (3' day trial), and I have been exploring what it will do. I can easily see why Adobe lets you have 3' day trials. Once you try it, you are hooked.

My problem is that now my Elements 6.' will not work. I try to start the program, and nothing happens.

Does anyone know why this might happen, and how to rectify the problem without having to uninstall and reinstall Elements?

Here is another interesting twist. I saw in one of the tutorials that you could call up CS3/4 or Elements to edit a picture you are working on.

So I tried it, and ELEMENTS OPENED????

However, if I close Elements and try to open it directly from the start menu, it will not start. So LR is involved in the fact that Elements will not start now that I have loaded LR.

Strange.

I can't start it from the desktop shortcut or from the start menu.

I even tried going to the .exe file in the Program Files \ Adobe folder and try to double click that. No luck.

That is odd, I wonder where LR is looking for PSE?

Maybe you have two PSE installations?

Check LR preferences is, PSE the primary editor?

Under Preferences, in the External Editing tab, it says: "Edit in Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.'".

So yes, it is the default editor at this time.

Maybe a Windows person can explain why the EXE will not run, but LR can start it.

Maybe killing the PSE preference files would help?
Save them so you can put them back if you need to.

OK. I did a little more on the .exe file level, and I noticed that right below the "Photoshop Elements 6.'.exe" file is another file called: "PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe".

If I first start the first one, and wait a minute and double click on the second one, then Elements Editor comes up. What is being bypassed is that little screen that comes up right after the splash screen that lets you choose between the Organizer, Full Edit, Quick Edit, and something else.

So I have a work-around. However, I may uninstall and reinstall Elements to see if it will fix this problem.

I do appreciate your help.

Do this first: Go to Start, Configuration Panel, Add/Remove Programs.

Is Photoshop Elements 6 still in the list? If so, is there a "Modify" button? With some apps, clicking "Modify" give you the option to "Repair"...

Otherwise, reinstalling should not overwrite you configuration and just fix it.

I will give that a try later tonight. Got to go right now.
