When I move files to a folder in Win11 from icloud, then import into Lightroom classic Lightroom duplicates the file. ie IMG-123.jpg Lightromm add's IMG-123-2.jpg. So the file system now has 2 entries. The only one lightroom sees and edits is the -2 version. I really do not want this file bloat. What setting fixes this issue? Thanks DHB

You made Lightroom copy the images to the same folder. Use ‘add’ at the top of the import dialog, so the images are added to the catalog without being copied.

Thanks for the prompt response.
You are absolutely right.
Add works fine, but changes the file name by adding a -2. Is that necessary?

Copy is a filesystem command. It is not permitted that the two of the same named files can exist in the same folder. The Filesystem appends the “-2” to the second file to create uniqueness.

If in your import you used Copy then the second instance of the file is the one imported and given the “-2” by the filesystem. You can rename this file if you wish, but you will need to move or delete the first instance to rename to the original name

No, 'add' does not change the file name. 'Copy' does if you copy to the same folder, because you cannot have two copies of a file with the same name in the same folder.
