Lightroom Version Number
14.0.1
Operating System
  1. macOS 15 Sequoia
Since I updated LrC to version 14.0.1, I can't play videos in library module any more. Lightroom crashes every time I click on a video.

I have 6 catalogs, but have only updated one. I ´m afraid to open the others at the moment because I had big problems updating one of them (with only 30,000 images) from v13. My RAW files are all on external SSDs, which are mostly not at home. I've been working exclusively with Smart previews for years. My iPhone videos are not artistic, just little things of max 5 min of funny or weird stuff.
(MacBook Pro, Intel, MAC OS 15.0.1, Videos from iPhone 12 mini (iOS 17.7.1).

I am running LrC on MacOS v15.1 I have no problem running .MOV files on my M2 Ultra Mac Studio I and not trying to view Smart Previews (perhaps they don't exist). Can you give more specifics? How Much Free space is available on your primary drive? Are you running in Rosetta? Is the MacOS v15.01 or v15.1? Can you view the video file outside of LrC using Quicktime?

I'm running MacOS 15.1 and LrC 14.01, On Intel, so no Rosetta. I can view the videos outside of LrC, 200Gb of spare disk. Have re-installed LrC and checked catalog etc. Have about 2,000 video's and 41k pictures in the library. have built a test library with 2 or 3 video's and the same thing happens. I can view the video's in Grid view but as soon as I go to Loop view LrC crashes. I have sent the crash reports to Adobe.

Johan has Linked your crash report at Adobe . Since I see no problem with MacOS15.1 an LrC 14.0.1 on silicon, I can only assume the issue is related to intel Macs. That means to me the problem is either MacOS on Intel or LrC v14 on intel. Since Quicktime has no problem, I think it might be LrC v14 on Sequoia. Have you tried turning off the GPU in Preferences?

My RAW files are on external SSDs, my catalogs (700 GB) and videos are on my MAC. I work almost always with smart previews and connect only to the originals, when I have to upload new photos, want to delete some, ... Since I was traveling I couldn’t make a TM-Backup (what I always do before upgrading), I am still on 15.0.1. I am now back home and will catch up soon. My iPhone is on 17.7.1 (which is the latest).

Free space on my MAC is 500 GB of 2 TB. I’m on Intel, no Rosetta. Yes, I can view the video file in Quicktime on my desk.

My iPhone is iOS v18.1. If you stil. have this problem after updating MacOS to 15.1 then my response above likely applies.

Yes, that's right. Sorry. There really is a new iPhone update. I hadn't seen that yet. If it works with 15.1, I'll tell you. Thanks a lot!
