Lightroom Classic and Photoshop cc 2018

I do most of my processing in Lightroom using RAW but quite often have to send my photo from Lightroom to Photoshop for additional editing. When I start my processing I open both Lightroom Classic and PS cc 2018.

When using the previous version of both LR and PS when in Lightroom I clicked on "Edit in photoshop" it automatically switched to photoshop for me to work in photoshop.

Now since the upgrade when working in LR and I click on "Edit in Photoshop" it sends my photo to photoshop but does not automatically switch to photoshop, I have to click on the photoshop icon on my screen to switch to photoshop.

It automatically switches to PS for me under Windows 10. Perhaps it's a problem with Win 7.

On a 2017 iMac I am experiencing huge problems editing in PS from LR. It takes an absolute age to load the image. If I try and edit in Affinity Photo or ON1 it just seems to sit there looking at me - it prepares the file in LR and that is about it :-(

How much RAM do you have?

Photoshop uses various cache files and scratch disks. These may be defaulted to your system drive and your system drive may be very full after misc updates. Check how much free space you have on your system drives.

Raw conversion also uses a cache folder.

I have a dedicated SSD (G) drive, whose sole job is to hold my Lr catalog file and all Lr & Ps cache files and scratch disks. This is specifically to optimise performance.
