I’ll wait for 13.0.2. I didn’t even notice any bugs in v13 to compel me to try 13.0.1 again.

LrC v13.0 ran fine on my iMac. I installed v13.0.1 when it was first released figuring that lots of other bug other than the most egregious would have also been caught and fixed. I've had no issues with v13.0.1 either. I think if you run a pretty clean OS, you won't have any problems. You have to consider that v13.0 and v13.0.1 were tested and debugged at Adobe before being released . Any bugs remaining don't affect everyone just a few.

My iMac is crispy clean. I don't have many apps, I remove anything I don't use and hunt down anything that is connected to those apps via Spotlight. I have maintenance routines. I diligently maintain the LrC catalogue. I took the iMac in once and the service department was surprised at how clean it was. Still didn't work for me.

My MacBook Air M1 worked. Only has 3 files in the catalogue.

Don't jump to conclusions. The error message that some people got (not everyone did get an error message) pointed to a code signature verification error. That suggests a problem with the installer to me, and not necessarily with anything on the user's computer. Version 13.0.1 was released very shortly after 13.0 was released, so the time this was debugged was probably minimal. I think it was rushed, mainly because Windows users had Lightroom crashing on them (where Mac users only saw an empty history).

I should have said the inside wasn't clean. Full of dust which was why I took in it. I had them run diagnostics while there.

I'm not referring to "clean hardware". MacOS refers to the OS and all of the software detritus that accumulates over time.

If this had been a problem with the installer, then everyone should have received the error.

I think Debugging of v13.0 is and has been ongoing up until and after v13.0 was released. Egregious errors such as those that caused the rapid release of v13.0.1 were identified only after reports and all of the accumulated bug fixes were then rolled into v13.0.1

Yes I'm aware of that. I do maintain my iMac OS diligently. The dust was just a side story.

Well I decided to try Rikk's recommended procedure and it worked on my 2019 iMac Intel.

Not necessarily. It could be a combination of an error in the installer and the version of MacOS, or the presence of something else (like Apple XCode).

That's my point. Of course Lightroom Classic 13.0 was debugged for a long time. But despite of that, certain bugs made it necessary to release the 13.0.1 update rapidly. That happens sometimes, but that means that there was no time to debug the update very long.

BTW, when I read the suggested procedure to solve this, I notice that it requires two computer reboots during the uninstalling and reinstalling, and a five minute wait at the end. That suggests to me that the updater left a lot of crappy temp files around, that need to be removed at specific points. I'm especially intrigued by that five minute wait. Five minutes is eternity for a modern computer...

The instructions are designed to do several things. Mac users in particular are notoriously lackadaisical about rebooting. These machines tend to have many 'lid =' open/close and power saver activations and are, in general, in a precarious state most of the time. Additionally, a bad install happens from time to time so the process is designed to get last install off, remove accumulated OS cruft from long between-boot cycles, and in general give software a fighting chance to get a clean installation without other software's interference.

Actually, the 'wait five minutes" line has been in Clean Install Instructions for several years and is not an instruction step for this specific issue. In general, it stems from my days as a Lightroom Consultant who saw too many persons jump to their computer immediately after application launch only to declaim 'its still broken!' without giving Lightroom a chance to fully load, rebuild indices, complete partial syncs, etc. - essentially 'settle down'.

In the 13.x builds, there is an additional component in that AI Models do not install with the initial Creative Cloud App installation. They begin to install after the first app launch. In this case, the '5 minutes' also allows a little time for the models to download.

There's no mystery - my instructions have contained this since at least November 2019.

Don't read too much into '5 minutes'

Mac users in particular are notoriously lackadaisical about rebooting. I resemble that remark. :)

Don't feel bad - Windows users are notorious for having out of date drivers - years out of date....

What going on at Adobe? They had several glitches recently with updates to Photoshop and Lightroom.
