Earlier today I had to do a "hard" close of Lightroom (used Task Manager to shut it down) as it was hung up (probably due to low RAM).

After restarting the PC I tried to reopen Lightroom and got the following message:

Lightroom cannot use the catalog 2-V10-V11 because it is not writable and cannot be opened.

A picture of the full message is attached.

I'd appreciate any help on how to proceed. I do have a recent backup of the catalog.

Update

Before I posted this message I tried to open LR again and this time it opened and everything seems to be as it should. But I am still curious about this problem and what I can do to prevent / solve it.

Thanks

Glenn Courtney

Have you check for the - <your_catalog_name>.lrcat.lock file? This locks out any changes. You need to delete this first. Then all should be good.

Here is a forum discussion on the same thing. FYI
