As a result of restoring backups, we appear to have lost about 18 hours of posts, but hopefully nothing more. Lightroom Classic version: 6
Operating System
macOS 10.13 High Sierra
LR 6 seems unaware of some files in a folder I use to import from (iMac - High Sierra). Yet, it will import other files in that folder, even if they are moved there after the 'hidden' files.

Nothing wrong with the files either, as far as other programs are concerned.

Seems crazy...

Two things to consider:
  1. The files are already imported and LR won't reimport them because the :Don't import suspected duplicates" check box has been checked.
  2. The files are in an image format that LR does not recognize. That format could be a proprietary RAW format from a camera that was released after your version of LR. Also these unrecognized files could be damaged and LR can not read them.
If you are still stuck, we need more detailed information.

JPEG2000 file are not supported and likely will not be supported even though they may be supported in Photoshop. It is not a popular file format. You will have to convert them to TIFF or some other supported format.
