Lightroom 2 Adjustment brush stoped working, but shows the mask???

I installed Lightroom, and Lightroom2 on my computer about a month ago and things were going well up until a week ago. I was using the adjustment brush pretty heavy on a picture and the program slowed to a crawl and stopped...since then the adjustment brush wont show the changes when using it...but will show the mask of where I used the brush.

I am on a Vista 64 with service pack 2, 4 meg ram, AMD turion 2...using Lightroom 2 /64 version 2.5 .

All other adjustment functions work normal but the brush...I have uninstalled the programs (Lightroom 1, and 2)...cleaned out the registry, and rebooted the computer. Reinstalled the program and it goes right back into showing me the last photo I was on like nothing happened, and didn't even ask me fore the product key upon installation...didn't seem like a fresh start.


any help would be greatly appreciated!

also...I checked for other fixes...

reset all the presets

hit the hide key and masking key

those apear normal....just no brush strokes on all settings, clarity, brightness, color, saturation, etc.

Hi corcoran, welcome to the forum!

So is it only that photo that it doesn't work on, or is it every photo?

Have you tried trashing the preferences?

It is every photo...I tried to open up a new folder in import from both the disk, and devise (my camera) and it does the same thing. By trashing the preferences do you mean resenting them under edit/ preferences / lightroom defalts?

I have done that part...seems to be something I'm missing, or something saved on the program that is not letting go even after a reinstall. I love the program until this started happening..grrr

Nope, I mean finding the preferences file in [systemdrive] \ Users \ [your username] \ AppData \Roaming \ Adobe \ Lightroom \ Preferences \ Lightroom 2 Preferences.agprefs and moving or deleting it. Fixes the weirdest issues. It's a hidden folder, but if you go to Edit > Preferences > Show the Lightroom Presets Folder it'll take you right there.

Now I just need to grow back the hair I have been pulling out on my head trying to figuring this out searching the internet for the past week
