Lightroom 2.3 Upload Error

I am trying to upload my slideshowpro gallery from Lightroom using the Lightroom upload feature (found under the Web tab). I have the correct login info and browsed to the right path. However when I try to upload I get an error that says:

"An error occurred sending the file: a response was not received in time"

Welcome, I'm just bumping this to the top. It sounds like a communication error but I know little about this son hope someone will chip in to assist you.

Welcome to Lightroom Forums.

If this problem is repeatable, then I would suggest trying two things:

(1) Toggle the Passive Mode setting and see whether that makes a difference.

(2) Try a standalone FTP client rather than uploading directly from LR. If that works, then the problem is with LR's built-in FTP client, and should be reported to Adobe.

Exactly my problem. I using the 3' day demo version and while some things are nice, the upload function seems abysmal. I tried uploading a 3'' thumbnail image gallery and it was slower than molasses flowing at 2' degrees below zero. I went away and came back two hours later and it had gotten halfway through the upload and hit whatever problem and gave me the same error message.

LR created a nice review gallery for all the images I shot for a subject, but it could not upload them. That seems such a simple task for LR unable to perform ... or unable to install and explain clearly. Without that feature that uploads images, LR seems to me not worht the money.

Welcome to the forum, sorry to hear of your problem.The inbuilt ftp does seem a bit weak and I suggest that your try Marks suggestion #2 below. Export the gallery first.

It's night time here so I might try that tomorrow. If I were uploading simple small jpg's that would be no problem.

But the LR thumbnail gallery looks good and it seems a shame to abandon it and go back to basic uploading of individual images.

LR probably is capable of uploading its creation to the web, but it just does not do a good job of explaining it.

Export the entire gallery to say your desk top, not just the images and upload that with another ftp client.Good luck!! :)

No luck. I created a smaller version of about 5' thumbnails (LR does a nice job of that) and attempted to load to a Flikr account that I've barely used. I downloaded the Flikr upload program and tried using it and it did not work. I suspect Flikr wants only jpgs and small videos in a certain format.

Is there a free site that I could use to test the LR upload feature?

Somewhere, perhaps on the Adobe LR site sample tutorials I remember a reference to clicking and selecting one of the default web sites. I clicked buttons that might seem to have that but found on default sites.

This is such a basic thing that I'm sure many photographers use. There has to be a simple answer somewhere ...

LIGI, correct, flickr only wants image/vid files. It doesn't know what to do with the Lr gallery. To upload a Lr gallery, you're going to need to use a hosted website, I presume that's what you were trying in the first 'molasses' post?

You can't upload that to Flickr. Flickr is expecting just photo and video files, not all the HTML stuff that goes with it as part of a web gallery or slideshow.

You need to upload to a web-hosting provider, not a photo-hosting provider.
