Hi,

I am running LR 1.4 on my Advent 4211 UMPC.

The main application works fine but I am having trouble with the import from card option. The "import photos from" sub screen is too large for my screen so the last few options, including the all important "Import" button are not available. I can get round it by copying the card to another folder then importing from "choose files" but it's not very satisfactory.

My screen resolution is1'24 X 6'' and the main programme & photos look fine.

Is there any way of re-sizing the Import box? I have tried lowering the resolution but with no success.

Chris

Not that I know of. There's a reference to modal dialog box positioning changes in the latest 2.1RC1 release. But I believe this was intended to resolve an issue with dialogs continuing to try to appear on a disconnected secondary monitor. I doubt this will affect your issue. I think that version is available as a free trial.

One trick I can think of to try. If you press alt-Windowslogo-spacebar, followed by m, this should put the window with current focus in 'move' mode, and you should be able to move that window around with the arrow-keys. I don't have a single display system to test that on, so I don't know if it'll help you.

Hi Brad,

Just tried that, move didn't move the window, tried size, that made the window slightly smaller but still couldn't get the all important bottom line, but thanks for the tip.

PS Tried on my desk top pc and it did move the window around but then it does not fill the screen vertically on my desktop monitor which is 1164 x 864. I think the problem must be something to do with the fact that the UMPC screen is a "widescreen" format.

I also have an Advent 4211 with LR2 installed. The all-important Import button responds to you pressing the Enter key so there's no need to click it. At least, that's the case with LR2.

Hi Garry,

Would you believe I didn't try pressing Enter !!! Doooh......

I'll give it a go when I get home tonight.

Chris

Hi again Gary,

It works - thankyou!

One other thing about the 4211, I tried downloading CR2 files direct from my Canon 4'D, the previews didn't seem to want to load, the boxes remained greyed out, the 4'D lcd said "busy" but the CF access card wasn't flashing. I gave it 3-4 minutes then pressed "enter" and they all downloaded successfully. How does your 4211 perform? I assume that it's a question of processing power?

Hi Terry,

What's the significance of Raw Codec 1.3? LR is converting the CR2 files OK, is this something to do with the previews? I looked on the Canon UK site and couldn't find Raw Codec 1.3. Can you post a link please?

Thanks

Chris

Hi,

Just a quick update, tried reading the cf card in a USB card reader, works fine can see all the previews, so it's just a problem with previews from the camera.

BTW Managed to find the Canon 1.3 Codec via another thread. Didn't affect the previews from the camera, also doesn't make cr2 files visible in explorer in either my 4211 or desktop, both running XP SP3.

Chris,
I haven't tried importing direct from the camera. It's easier for me to pull the CF card and put it in my reader than find the cable. As for viewing RAW files in WinXP, I thought you had to have the RAW Image Thumbnailer and Viewer installed, but I just installed it and it just said that it couldn't view my .CR2 files! That was on my PC running SP2. Haven't had time to try it on the Advent 4211 yet.

Hi Garry,

Yes, it's not really a problem using the card reader with the 4211 but I'd hoped to have one less bit of kit to carry, I'll find a plug in CF/USB reader so at least I can loose the cable!

RE Viewing RAW files, I'm not well up on using XP / Explorer for viewing Raw files, I use LR for viewing / organising and prior to that Canon Zoom Brower/DPP so It's never really been an issue for me.
