Lightroom 1.4 crashing - help!

I beg for help!! I have LR 1.4, which worked fine for 1 year+. Now, it crashes consistently, after developing about 3 pictures.

Symptoms:
After developing & exporting the 3rd picture in a row, when I click the Export button in Library, one of two things happens:
1. LR, and my entire PC (including Ctrl/Alt/Del) freezes, requiring a power-button shutdown.
2. LR hangs for a moment, screen goes white, then the app closes.

Fixes I've tried:
Confirmed all apps & OS have all current updates.
Updated hardware drivers (video, network).
Uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom, re-downloading it from Adobe.
Checked for LR updates.
Took the detailed forum steps where you rename the catalog file, and create a new one.

PC:
No major new applications were installed prior to the probem beginning.
DELL XPS DXPO51, DUAL-CORE, INTEL(R) PENTIUM(R) D CPU 2.8'GHZ, 3.''GB RAM.
Windows XP Pro, SP3.
Norton Internet Security.

I am truly at my wits end. Any thoughts are so greatly appreciated!!

Welcome to Lightroom Forums D!
I see there is one thing you didn't try... Lightroom on Windows doesn't like much big trash cans. Is yours empty when this happens? Also, do you still have plenty room on your drive?

Hi Davey, welcome to the forum!

Tried trashing the preferences? They wouldn't have been deleted when you uninstalled.

Thank you both for your help.

Per Denis' suggestion, I emptied my Recycle Bin, and lo and behold, I was then able to develop and export six pictures in a row, something I haven't been able to do for months.

I suppose I'll need another session or two to know for sure, but it appears that that fixed the problem!

For more detail (in case it's useful for others who read this), I had emptied my Recycle Bin just two months ago, and don't delete very many files. However, I do shoot raw photos, and I had also deleted a few song files that were in a very high-quality format, and were huge.
