I'm using a copy of lightroom 1.4.1 at work and whenever the backup runs it just sits there without doing very much. The directory is created but it never contains any files. I've left it running for over an hour now without anything happening. Very little CPU is being used and the IO count is minimal.

Anybody come across this problem before?

Cheers

Gordon

Gordon, no haven't seen that one before. I'd ask you to verify that you have write access to the target location, but if the directory's being created, that's probably not it. No other ideas occur off the top of my head.

I see that's your first post, welcome aboard! We ask frequent participants to create a signature block with pertinent technical details (personal, too) e.g. camera gear, Mac/PC, OS, LR versions, workflow filetypes, that kind of stuff.

thanks for the welcome..

To answer your responses; the backup drive is on the local drive. I've tried two different locations both of which failed.

If i run check integrity before the backup it does the same thing, it fails to do very much. I've watched the process in SysInternals process explorer and there doesn't seem to be any files being written to/read from nor any IO happening at all.

It's all very strange. Maybe it's a SP3 thing? I've had previous version of Lightroom and they've all backed up correctly.

Do you think it would be possible to downgrade to LR 1.3 or has the catalog data format been modified?

Cheers

You can go back to 1.3.1, but I suspect the problem is in your catalog file not Lightroom. How old is your most recent backup? Would you lose much work if you rolled back to it?

Can you export a new catalog from the one that won't backup? Or, as an alternative, crfeate a new empty catalog and then import your existing catalog into it?

Hi Rob,

I did try creating a new catalog, and then imported the old catalog into it to save my work. The problem still remains. I've managed to run the optimise functionality on the old catalog without a problem so I think the catalog is sound?
