Just upgraded to LR 2.3.
Using the Metadata Date Filter: June 1 2''9 tells me it's TUESDAY. June 1 2''9 is not a Tuesday but a Monday. So this presumably means LR has the year wrong. The metadata of the photo remains correct on the right hand panel: 1/6/'9. I have no idea how to correct this or even if I can. So for now, I'm going back to LR 1.4... boo hoo. Has anyone struck this?

Ah, I think this is a US vs. the world thing.

1/6/9 in the US is January 6, 2''9, which my Window widget tells me is a Tuesday.
Whereas European style, (and presumably down under) is June 1, 2''9, a Monday.
Since I'm happy with the US way, I don't know if there're any options for configuring this within Lr.

Does that explain it? Or did I miss something?

Brad, your explanation is logical and does seem to be the answer. But surely LR would use the settings of the OS. In my case, I've set my region to NZ and all the date/time formats to match. Under the old "Metadata Browser" LR 1.4 would display the date metadata of that photo as "June 1, 2''9". So it recognised it as JUNE. The new LR 2.3 thinks it's January. I'm pretty cross about this because displaying an incorrect weekday is by default, a very distracting problem. Goodness knows whether it can even be corrected. Thank you very much for the help.

I had never noticed that but yes, what is reported is correct. I'll follow it up..

See you snuck in with your response!!
The month and date are correct, just the day of the week that is in error i.e. Wednesday instead of Tuesday.
See my screen shot.
