Lightroom Version Number

  1. macOS 15 Sequoia
Since the last update my LENS BLUR is practically non-functional and I dont understand why. Ive read somewhere that the latest update changed the GPU settings....true or not, I have no idea. Mine is set to Auto, but Im sure it wasnt before, but I dont recall what the setting was either. LENS BLUR seems to work once in a blue moon, so Im not sure when it does but most of the time it doesnt, no matter the file format, CR2/CR3
I have an iMac Intel with the latest version of Sequoia.
Any ideas?

Thanks Johan. I read somewhere else that clearing the cache worked for someone so I cleared my LR cache and it worked, but I will go read those links you posted.

I cleared my LR cache and it worked
What precisely did you do? There are several places where LR caches information, all informally called "caches". There are many other threads in the Adobe forum of posts about Lens Blur, so knowing the details could help others.

I was a little over optimistic......it worked for 2 photos and then it didnt work anymore even with clearing the cache from Lightroom ->Preferences->Performance->Purge Cache. Now its working intermittently. Even presets I have for Background Blur which uses Lens Blur, dont work. Ive just got it to work on a cellphone photo (*.jpg). Also I had just opened LrC, so seriously, I dont know if its looking for something specific which doesnt exist on all photos and if whatever its looking for, is not there, it wont work. The question is...what is it looking for in order to decide whether its going to work or not? Im very confused.

For a given photo, is it intermittent, sometimes working and sometimes not? Or is that some photos always work and some photos never work?

I have not found issues with Lens Blur outside the normal issues in the transition zone. On some images, it doesn't play nicely with masks. However, I have found that Reflection Removal doesn't work at all with Denoise regardless of the order.

I noticed this yesterday. I specifically took an image to see how good the Reflections Removal would work. To be fair it did very well so I decided to edit the image a bit further and started with Denoise. Suddenly, the reflections were back.

As I had not followed the suggested Adobe Order of Operations I started editing again, doing the Denoise first. Running reflections again gave a poor result. I guess that this will not be regarded as a bug as the Reflections removal is regarded as Early Release.

My reflection removal has never worked and still doesnt work, even after the latest update.

My reflection removal worked very well back in April 2025 using LrC 14.xx.
But as I just discovered, it no longer works with LrC15.0.1 !
Not even with the images that worked so well in April. I will post a separate article on this topic here in the next few days.

Can I request that you post a link in this thread after you have created the post, just in case I miss it. Thank you in advance.

Distractions Removal > Reflections has never been marked Early Access:

So the behavior you observe is definitely eligible to be labeled by Adobe as a "bug".

Unfortunately, the problems with lens blur affect only some people, and no one has yet posted sample photos that reliably fail on other LR installations. Without being able to reproduce the problems, Adobe generally won't pay attention unless many more people report the problems.

All: If you have a photo for which lens blur repeatedly fails, even after restarting LR, please share it here. If the forum won't let you attach the file here, upload it to Wetransfer, Dropbox, Google Drive or similar free service and post the sharing link here. We can see if the issue is specific to your computer or occurs on other installations, and we can file an actionable bug report if it does.

Thank you...would you like the raw file or jpg?

Someone in the Adobe forum discovered that in LR 15.0.1, using the Remove tool breaks the display of Lens Blur settings in Develop for all photos regardless if they have Remove applied. A simple workaround is to type Q twice to open and close the Remove panel; alternatively, restart LR. This bug probably accounts for many, if not most, of the reports here about Lens Blur in LR 15.

I have created a zip file of 3 files : 1 x Original CR2 file, 1 x as seen on screen with active blur on, 1 x saved file with lens blur active. I have uploaded to my inhouse cloud so please once you have downloaded the file let me know so I can delete the file off my cloud before everyone and sundry accesses it.

@Rute, unfortunately, I'm not able to access that updated download link. Chrome gives the error: "This site can’t be reached. madeira.homeip.net took too long to respond." I tried another browser and another network and got the same thing.

Also, did you see my previous post about the confirmed bug with lens blur in LR 15?
