Keywords not to Bridge?

I am grappling with the best way to add keywords to my files. I like the approach of LR over bridge, but I also use bridge for certain additions which I find easier in some circumstances.
Anyway I have found that some keywords are not transfering when I view them after adding them in LR. I make sure that I selct and alt S to save metadata.
What am I doing wrong.

On the subject of keywording, I wonder whether you have better software than either LR or Bridge, or even Portfolio?
In LR I like the ability to have recent words and a selectable panel of words - BUT these are limited to 7 which is woefully small.

Ideally i'd like a panel of buttons like that in LR that I can just click on to apply. But preferably I'd like to have types of keywords in tabs, so I can make selctions easier than having to scroll a long list.

John, the transfer of keywords from one application to another can be troublesome. The standards as well as the applications themselves are frequently in flux, and there's often a version lag, as well as well-intentioned deviations from standard.

It'd be helpful if you could provide a concrete example of what's (not)happening. Are your keywords flat/hierarchal, JPG/TIF/Raw, exported vs. Save Metadata, settings of Keyword Tag Options, etc. ? All of these things have an impact on how keywords are stored.

Like you, I'm hoping for keywording workflow improvements in future versions.
