Keywording problem with screen 2 grid

I have a large keyword list with keywords and sub-keywords etc, I.e. Location > Indoor > Artist Studio; Location > Indoor > Dining Room etc.

I also have 2 monitors so have enabled the grid on the 2nd display

If I 'select all' in the grid on this second display and drag/drop these selected images onto a keyword in the keyword list, then that keyword is added to all the selected images, as you would expect. If however, with all the same images selected, I click a check box next to a keyword in the list, a check mark appears in that box next to that keyword as you would expect, but only the currently highlighted image out of all those selected in the grid gets the keyword applied, instead of all the selected images.

If I now switch off the 2nd display and bring up the grid on the first display instead, and again with all those same images selected, I click the check box next to a keyword, applying the check mark, then all the selected images successfully get the keyword applied. So why doesn't this happen when do the same on display 2??

Also noticed a problem using the 'Sync Metadata' button with all images selected in the grid on display 2, trying to sync the keywords - these just don't appear to change to the values intended.

I'm using Windows 64bit LR v2.1rc1

What's happening here is that keyboard-entered changes apply to multiple images only if you're in Grid on the main display.

The drag-and-drop works because LR can understand clearly that you meant to apply to multiple images, but if you're in Loupe on the main monitor and Grid on the second, and you type a change on the main monitor, it guesses conservatively that you meant to apply that only to the image shown on the main monitor.

So to make this work, switch to Grid on the main monitor.

It's the way it works. If you consider the "grid" display on the 2nd monitor as a reformatted film strip, it makes sense. For most features (including what you are trying to do) you will see the same behavior when using the grid on the 2nd monitor as if you were doing it on the filmstrip on the primary monitor. In my experience, the "grid" on the 2nd monitor really isn't the same as the grid on the primary monitor, rather it behaves like the filmstrip.

Thanks for the reply guys - I just remember to use grid on Monitor 1 from now on when doing the DAM part of my workflow.
