It seems hit or miss when I export photos as jpg from one catalog and import them with Add to another catalog that the keywords come along. I cannot figure out what is different when they are missing. This has happened to me for many years and many versions of Classic.

Any help is appreciated.

Check the Metadata settings on your Export - ensure it's set to all (check page 363 of your Classic book for various settings there)
Hi Paul,
I appreciate your response. Yeh, I looked at that passage in the Classic book. Here is how my export was set up: Include: All Metadata; Remove Person and Remove Location were checked; Write Hierarchy was NOT checked. No watermarking and nothing else remarkable to tell you. And, as I say, this happens intermittently. It baffles me.

Write Hierarchy was NOT checked.
Do you have hierarchical keywords in the source catalog? If so, heirarchical keywords will turn into top-level keywords in the destination catalog.

Remove Person and Remove Location were checked
The Remove Person Info option removes keywords that are marked "Person". To see if a particular keyword is marked Person, in the Keyword Tags panel, right-click the keyword and do Edit Keyword Tag.

Good thoughts, and thank you, John. No keywords transfer, so it is not about gets the wrong message.

The Remove Person Info option removes keywords that are marked "Person". To see if a particular keyword is marked Person, in the Keyword Tags panel, right-click the keyword and do Edit Keyword Tag.
On the keyword tag, the first three boxes are checked and the Person box is blank, just like Paul shows above.

Additionally, for the keywords that aren't included in export, check this isn't disabled for that keyword (same route as John mentions above for checking the person tag) - so check 'Include on Export' is ticked.

Yeh, Paul, my box for the keyword "Dallas" looks just like that. I explained that to John as well.

Perhaps you could upload one of the problem JPEGs to Dropbox or similar and post the sharing link here. That will let us determine whether the keywords are getting into the JPEG properly or whether the issue is with the import.
John (and Paul)

My face is more than a little red. The problem was at import time - i.e. "Apply During Import / Metadata" was changed from other than None.

Thank you both for your efforts to help. They were very much appreciated.
