I use Lightroom Classic on my desktop, where I use keywords to (amongst other things) record images that have been sent to stock agencies, including which agency and the keywords associated with that image.
Have started to take an iPad away with me, but, (of course?) keywords do not sync across from Classic to Mobile. This is becoming a pain.
Obviously I cannot take the desktop away with me, but is there any way to sync keywords?
I presume not, so, would an Apple laptop make it possible, or would this require the catalogue and the images to be available on e.g. an external drive?
Or is there any “alternative’” system?

No, there is not any way to sync keywords (between Classic and the cloud).

Yes, you could use Classic on a laptop to access the images with their keywords, you would need (a copy or a subset of) the catalog, plus the associated previews (Library previews to access the keywords, and Smart Previews if you want to edit the images). You would not, however, need access to the images. This article provides a lot of different options for using Lightroom on multiple computers: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-to-lightroom-catalog-multiple-computers/

You can add Keywords in the mobile app. While they do not sync back to classic, they will be associated with your image for exports.

I use Lightroom mobile on my iPadPro while I travel. I wait until I get home and the Adobe Cloud images have synced to Classic to add keywords.
