I use keywords extensively and within the keyword list there are some "parents" which show a number against them as if I had used the parent as a keyword. It cannot be a count of all the sub-keywords as the number is always very small, e.g. one parent has the number 1 against it, whereas, the total count within the parent is over 200.
However when I click the arrow symbol (to see which image this is) the result is always all the images that are within that parent and sub-keywords i.e. it shows the 200. The same happens when I use "Find" to search for that parent's name.
Not vastly important but annoying.
Is there a way I can search for and find just the image that is the "1"?

After doing that, you should be in Grid view with the Library filter open with "Keyword" in the 1st column. At the right hand side of the Keyword column header is a very small icon, clicking on that icon will reveal a menu with a few options. At the bottom of the list are the two View options, which will have "Hierarchical" selected. Change that to select "Flat" and that will change the column to show only the keywords that have images directly assigned to them, which will include that Parent keyword with the "1" assigned. Thank you so much Jim !
That feature of keywords has annoyed me for years and now I can make things tidy

For LOTS of keywords your tip works really well for about the first half of the alphabet but it seems there is still a 1600 (about) limit on the keywords panel when switching from hierarchy view to flat view. (Longstanding and hugely reported LrC problem)
During my searching I've bookmarked some tips on how to increase the size of default LrC panels - so that is something else to explore later.

It seems my "all images" catalog has 2670 keywords and my flat keyword list view ends in the middle of the S'-es (esses).
So to sort out all S > Z keywords in my flat WORLD keyword it's necessary to temporarily rename it as _WORLD and then it appears at or near the top of a flat list.
Then after sorting out all the _WORLD's children they can be put back at the end of the list. (sorry for how that sounds !)

Still exploring how a <>World (hidden ?) keyword works .......... ? ( Subject of a new thread )

For "keyword snoopers" ........ Did discover a great LrC plugin for finding duplicate keywords in a hierarchy --- https://github.com/LowellMontgomery/LrKeywordDeduper Deduper
My C++ and Visual Studio may be "ill" because I get a code error in line 38.
Rem-ing that out with "--" seems to solve the error for me.
If you don't understand "line 38" and or "rem-ing" then best leave well alone.
Using "Deduper" really helped me sort out merging 2 very similar but different keyword lists when importing from another catalog.
