Keyword Konfusion!

This is for LR 1.2 on Mac: I've created a Keyword Set with about 15 words, in the right-side panel. Is there a way to simply apply this whole set to a given image or selection of images with one click?

The way it SEEMS to be working is that I have to select an image, then click each individual keyword in the set... If that is the only way, it really sux!! :(

I surely hope I've overlooked something.

I guess you could put something heavy on the numberpad! 1-9 apply the keywords!

Actually, I'd be more inclined to do it slightly different. Couple of options...

See the keyword tags section just above? Anything you type in there will be applied to all selected images. So you can select all of the images and just type in there.

Or quicker still, investigate the Painter tool. You'll find it on the Toolbar (hit T if it's hidden). One of the options in the little dropdown is Keywords, and you can type which keywords you want to add, and apply them by clicking or dragging over the images. That'll be quicker than the keyword sets.

So the bottom line is, you can't apply a SET of keywords in one fell swoop. you have to TYPE EACH keyword you want applied to an image.

I had a set of 15 images going up to iStockphoto, all various views of a large cauliflower, and all could use the same keyword SET. So if I'm understanding you, (which is what I did), there is other choice but to type each keyword (about or 1') for each of the 15 images.

Hmmm... seems like there should be away to just APPLY a SET to a group of selected images.

I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion. There are at least two ways I can think of to do this off the top of my head -- the painter tool, and sync or copy&paste. I think both have been mentioned already.

There are indeed also methods that involve typing the keywords, though completion is available, and you only need to type them once rather than having to do it 1'' times for 1'' images.

Hello. I'm Bettie and I'm new to the LR forum. (Right now I'm using 1.2 & will upgrade to 1.3 tomorrow.) Personally, I don't like how LR handles its keywords panel. Wish it would display the same full keyword list I already have set up in Bridge but it doesn't. Sometimes when I'm working in LR, I can't remember the exact keywords I first created and don't want to add additional or wrong ones. Argggggh - so I find it's just easier to add my keywords in Bridge to begin with. Instead of having to type in the keywords - as required in LR, (whether using the painter tool or fill-in form), in Bridge, I can simply "check" the list's boxes with the desired keywords. I find it to be a lot faster.
I've actually got a different question for you guys about the Slideshow panel and will start a new thread.

Hi Bettie, welcome to the forum!

There's an easy way of adding all your keywords. It's possible import/export using a text file. In Bridge, export's under the little flyout menu in the Keywords panel, and then you can import them into LR.

I find it easier just to apply all keywords to one image, import that image into LR, and all your keywords will show up.

And you know you can drag the image to the keyword or the keyword to the image too, right?
