Keyword help needed

I need to do some global editing, adding and deleting of keyword in several folders. When I "select all" then delete a keyword, I am only able to delete the keyword for the photo I am displaying.

Is there some setting in the library or elsewhere that I need to change to be able to do "GLOBAL" keyword editing?

Chet, Welcome to LR Forums.

By default, you should be able to add and remove keywords from multiple images simultaneously. In order to do that, you need to be in grid view in Library, and to have selected all of the pertinent images. (When you say " ... the photo I am viewing", it makes me think you're not in grid view.)

Can you give us some more details, or a walk-thru of what you're attempting? What you describe should be quite easy, once we get on the right track.

If you go to the Keyword List palate and select the keyword you wish to remove, clicking on the arrow to the right will filter the grid to all instances of images containing that keyword regardless of which folder(s) they are in.

With all of them selected you can then click on the + symbol next to Keyword List title to create a new keyword and choose to add the selected photos at the same time. You can alternatively r/click on an existing keyword and create your new keyword already in this given hierarchy if you prefer.

To remove a keyword from the selected photos, r/click on that keyword and choose the 'Remove this Keyword from Selected Photos' option. Or if you want to delete the keyword outright, choose the 'Delete...' option.

Stas, many thanks. Your comments pointed me in the right direction. I now see what is required to change and edit the keywords.

I have a library of 4359 photos in 31 folders from a recent trip and I was getting frustrated not being able to manage the keywords.
