I have a catalog of about 45,000 photos and a fairly extensive keyword hierarchy. One keyword I have is "Oilwell". If I browse the keyword hierarchy I can see that I have 7 photos tagged with the keyword Oilwell. If I go to the library filter and go to the "Text" tab and enter the criteria Text: Keyword, Contain, Oilwell I get a result set of 208 photos. Only 7 of those photos are keyworded Oilwell, the same seven as when browsing the keyword hierarchy.

If I do a keyword search for oilwell I only come up with the one word, so no "oilwell" text string buried in another keyword somewhere else.

I'm confused as to why I see so many results when I use the library filter tool. Any ideas?

Running latest build of Windows 10 and Photoshop Lightroom Classic 9.0 on subscription.

Take a look at all of the Keywords in one on=r more of the images that does not contain "oilwell". is there perhaps a keyword that includes oil well in part of the keyword (like "oilwellhead") I know you said that the keyword search returned only one keyword, but what in the 201 photo is triggering the filter?
Also look at other metadata (Title Location etc) for the trigger word (it should not happen but the filter is failing for some reason).

FWIW "Oil Well" is two words not a run on construction.
If you filter on {Keywords}{contains}{ oil well} (note the space). LR will return all image containing "oil" or "well" including those that contain both (oilwell)

Hi Cletus, thanks for the suggestions. My first port of call was to try and find a keyword that may be triggering the filter. No luck. So I spent some time taking a look at the attributes of the keywords that were applied to the 201 "erroneous" results. I found one that had a synonym the same as my keyword Oilwell. Removing the synonym reduced the library filter down to the 7 photos I expected to see. Problem solved.

They say you learn something every da. Today I learnt a little more about keywords and their attributes and thanks to Cletus to think a little more about how some of my keywords are constructed.
