Keyword and folder trees expand without obvious reason

Hi,

when I work in the LR library view I noticed that the trees in the folder, keyword and collection panel sometimes expand all sub-elements without any obvious reason.

For example, this happens when I delete a keyword. Afterwards a completely unrelated branch in the keyword tree is expanded and I have to collapse all entries manually.

Is there something that I'm doing wrong and a way to prevent this?

I just had this happen to me yesterday for the first time; while keywording several hundred photos, one of my keyword trees kept opening back up and the keyword list scrolled to that point, for no apparent reason. Have others observed this behavior as well?

I can't say that I've noticed it actually happening, but the list always seems to have more open branches than I've actually clicked to open.

As of yet, just in the folders in left panel. I collapse, expand another branch and work. In next Lightroom session the previously expanded branch that I collapsed is extended again. On the keywords side, I have yet to see...

I can confirm that phenomenom:

1) I expand folder '2''8' to see the sub-folders 'Jan', 'Feb', 'May'
2) I collapse the folder '2''8'
3) I drag sub-folder 'tiger' from folder 'Zoo' to folder 'Jungle'
4) I drop sub-folder 'tiger' - and '2''8' expands itself

This happens anytime when the folder was expanded, is collapsed and other folders are moved. Unfortunately I also works on multiple folders. They all expand itself when moving folders.

Work-around: collapse the folders you would like, close LR, open LR again and start more moving.

May be someone at Adobe can fix this problem by the time. It's not critical but annoying.

I'll work on developing a generalized way to replicate this and will submit a bug report (or has someone done that already?)

No report from me as I have not yet found a precice repeatable behavior to explain. Telling Adobe that folders are expanding where we don't expect is not enough.

thanks for all your replies! I'm glad to read that I'm not alone with this problem. Sometimes it gets really annoying, but I still have not found a way to reproduce it.

One thing I noticed is that only those branches are expanded that have been expanded at some time before. I use a controlled vocabulary and the unused keywords never get expanded.

You can contract/expand them all at once - hold down the Alt key as you click a top level item.
