My keywords are heirarchal. In the Keywording / Keyword Tags window, the display of parent folders is inconsistent. In the attached example, Family is 1 of 4 parents to 2JFH (none displayed), South America (displayed) is 1 of 2 parents to Brazil, and digCpy has 2 parents (neither displayed).
The 3 options in the Edit Keyword tag window refer to exporting, and ticked or not does not seem to impact this issue.
My preference would be for the omission of parent keywords in this window. Is this possible?

What LrC is telling you is that you have more than one keyword “South America” and the this child has this parent

Solution
Use the "Keyword List" panel to see the real hierarchy. When you have one or more images selected the check mark indicates that ALL selected images have that KW, a minus sign means either that the KW is a a parent (at any level) of a keyword a selected image has or that some images hove this KW and some don't.

That's very interesting 2x - what you told me solves an annoying issue, and what Lightroom is telling me about duplicate keywords. Thank you.

I think it may actually be saying that you have two Brazils - it shows the current parent after the < ie South America ...
Perhaps you have another Brazil keyword with a parent like Beach Holidays and those photos would have a
keyword string looking like Brazil < Beach Holidays
If you highlight the Keyword List button on the right hand side toolbar and then left-mouse-button click it will expand into a full drop down list of all your keywords and there is a Filter input box where you could type Brazil that would then show you all your Brazil keywords with their parents ...

I must add a total liability disclaimer - I have never owned or used or understood Apple~Macs
My experience and knowledge is entirely PC oriented - so what I have described above is how a PC would interpret your first keyword screen shot ...
Hope you can get it sorted out !!!
If you want to get a severe headache do a Google search on "Database Normalization & Duplicate Keywords" or better still just have a nice cup of tea !

Yes, I initially wrote the response as "Brazil" and then changed it. I can never remember which is parent and which is child for the "<". Any how it is there for disambiguation.
