One of the best ways to speed up your work in Lightroom is to learn the keyboard shortcuts for the tools and commands you use most often.

There's a 5 page list covering all of the known keyboard shortcuts available to download from my website http://www.photoshopservices.co.uk/lightroom.htm

You will never learn all 5 pages of shortcuts... or if you do, I'm worried about you! ;) But when you start on a repetitive task, use the shortcut sheets as a reference. Over time, your repertoire will grow, and you will become quicker and quicker at moving around the Lightroom interface without having to think about it.

Thanks so much for the link. I have a hard time learning shortcuts, it seems like by the time I drag out a book and look it up it's just easier to use the menus. Now I can just hang the list on the wall by the monitor.

Victoria, is any of the shortcuts similar to Photoshop/Bridge?

I ask because I'm working in so many different programs that my poor brain can't take it anymore (and the fact that I'm blonde doesn't really help my case)

A lot of the shortcuts are similar Petra.

Z for zoom, '-9 for labels/ratings, Cmd-A for select, that kind of thing.

Others are fairly logical - G for Grid, D for Develop, W for White Balance.

You'll end up just learning the ones you actually need anyway.

Re-mapping keyboard shortcuts?

Is there a way to re-map some keyboard shortcuts in LR, as you can do in PS? I ask because some keyboard shortcuts don´t work on non-English keyboards, like "\" to see the "Before" view, and they would need to be re-mapped.

Could fix the Before\After shortcut

Thanks. That was very helpful. I was able to implement the Before\After shortcut that I use quite often, sort of interpolating from the instructions on the thread you mentioned. I don´t pretend to implement all shortcuts -I wouldn´t know how- but I was able to do this one, which I was missing the most.

Shortcuts are really nice and timesaving, but unfortunatly not when you have non-english keyboard. We have letters placed where eg. [ ] are and have to use Altgr to com to these brackets, but pressing Altgr works like Alt in LR. We really need a way to costumize shortcuts, like it is possible in CS3

I will give it a try, but for most user this is not trivial. In my case I will have to take a german og frensch txt file and translate that to danish, and define the new keys.
In CS3 I can do that via a menu which is a lot easier

I've tried all the tips and tricks mentioned in this thread as well as by MainSoft in this thread but since I'm running Win7, the tricks regarding VirtualStore don't seem to work and I can't get LR to bother with my new TranslatedStrings.txt-file.

Any clues on how to do it in Win7?

Hi Zarkov, welcome to the forum!

Win7 isn't officially supported yet, but I'll have a play with it and see what I can find.
