Key Words, Painter Tool & Capitalized Letters

Man..this is a frustrating one..

If you have a Keyword, say it's "Frustrating", and you want to use the Painter to selectively apply this to images in the Grid, but you type "frustrating" instead of "Frustrating", LR creates a new keyword resulting in both Frustrating and frustrating as available keywords..

Is there a way to turn this off or should I have created all my keywords using lower case letters???

Yeah, there you go. It'll drive you nuts. LR2 is better about this than it's predecessors, but .....

Not that I know better than anyone else here's what I do.
I use the following convention:
Everything else in lower case. (horse)
Things with proper names, get Intial Caps. (Clydesdale, horse, Big Boy, Churchill Downs, racetrack, paddock) where Big Boy is the horse's name.
Non-exported hierarchal category headers in All Caps. (CONDITIONS>WEATHER>fog), but (CONDITIONS>WEATHER>hurricane>Katrina)

This is a rough consensus of metadata gurus I've read.

The key thing with this LR case-sensitivity, is to stamp it out as soon as you see it. It's fairly easy to select all 'Frustrating', re-apply 'frustrating', delete keyword 'Frustrating', if you get it before it gets out of hand.

Brad can you point me to some reading on why to use the convention above?? Why not all or no caps?

At this point, I do a quick run through the Keyword List from time to time to correct it, but indeed it is frustrating.

It has an acceptance/confirmation registration procedure, but they're actively accepting new members.

These are the kind of folks who run stock agencies, museum/library inventories and corporate-wide asset management systems.

FWIW, the Painter tool should try to autofill existing keywords when you start typing, so selecting one of the keywords in the drop-down will at least mean you get the right capitalisation.

They are on mine Winston.... I start typing wedding with a lowercase w and it'll show me Wedding with an uppercase W in the list. Or am I misunderstanding you?
