Hey everyone,

I am a wedding photographer and in my workflow, I create a catalog for each wedding or client.

In my first original LR catalog, I have all my develop presets and export presets working fantastic, but when I create a new catalog for a new wedding, I am left with a blank and/or empty Lightroom.

I know the develop presets reside in a location on my mac ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom.....

Do I have to make a copy of these and import them to each catalog I create or is there an easier way to do this?

Thanks everyone!

The easiest way may be this:
  • Take a random wedding Catalog
  • Select only one random image
  • Export as Catalog and name it WeddingTemplate
  • Open the WeddingTemplate Catalog
  • Delete the image; close Lightroom
  • For a new Wedding, copy WeddingTemplate to WeddingXYZ
  • Work with WeddingXYZ for this new wedding
You may also want to give consideration to my tip on presets locations...

Hey Denis,

I just did this and again, my develop presets did not move over to this new 'template catalog'.

Under the develop panel, and where the presets are, I have the Adobe provided default presets plus an empty User Presets folder....

So I am still at a loss trying to figure out how to get my presets to stay and move with each new catalog I create

Would it be best to take the deeply hidden lightroom folder with all the presets in it, and copy the presets out into a main folder on the desktop somewhere, and with each new catalog creation, import the presets from this constant folder?

Denis,

I tried your tips again, but this time WITHOUT the "store presets with catalog" checkbox and it appeared that it worked.

When I create a new catalog WITHOUT that checkbox, my presets are available in each and every new catalog...!!!

Great!

This is it! :D
Not knowing how you configured that, this is why I pointed you to my tip... ;)

EDIT: And as a bonus, your IDPlate will follow!
