Just upgraded classic from 9.0 to 9.1; Book module options freezing LR

I haven't used LR in quite a while. An update was pending (9.1) so I installed it. I'm working in the Book module. I'm following instructions in LRCC/6 - The Missing FAQ. Starting on page 451 continuing to pg 453, items 1-5 worked ok as far as I can tell. On step 6 when I clicked Create Saved Book to name the book, a windows window frame appeared but remained empty for a long time and finally filled in. I tried to type a name over the default "Book" and the window just freezes and I can't go any further. I have to reboot to proceed. My other applications are working fine. How can I get help for this? Can I roll back to V9.0 and if so how?

I'd suggest check Appendix A in the Classic book for the latest instructions, although this part hasn't changed.

To answer your question on roll-back, simple from 9.1 to 9.0:

Let us know if that solves things, could be an issue in 9.1 if so.

I did the roll-back and the same problem persists. When I click Create Saved Book button, empty window appears......long pause until window fills in....book name then holds the word Book with blue background...two ways to continue. One is to click Cancel on the window and I'm able to resume other operations. Two is to force close LR. It also appears that whatever caused LR to freeze is causing problems in other applications that only clear up after force-rebooting.
 
What kind of problems is it causing in other applications?

I would go to File menu > New Catalog and just create a temp catalog and see if it'll let you do the same steps in there. If it does, it might be a problem with that specific catalog. If it doesn't, then we might try trashing preferences.
