I export a jpeg from a RAW file that has been "developed" in LR. When the file is re-imported into LR, the specific develop settings (slider positions, WB, etc) derived from the RAW file are zeroed out in the metadata display panel. I have the proper option checked in the catalogue to auto write the settings to the file, etc. Is this normal for jpegs and tiffs?

Absolutely normal Michael - the jpeg that you've exported does keep a record of the settings you used (you can check the metadata in Bridge if you needed to), but the file has already been processed when you've exported, so applying the same settings again to that file would give a truly bizarre rendering.

The writing of the settings to file is to do with other programs being able to read the settings - for example, Bridge being able to read the settings you were going to apply to the file in Lightroom, and being able to use those settings to convert in ACR.

And welcome to the forum!
