Lightroom Version Number
6.14
Operating System
  1. Other (please note in thread)
I have both LR6 and LR6.14 installed on a MacBookPro (still running Mavericks but will be updated soon) however 6.14 crashes on start up. I have been able to start it a few times but now it only lasts for a few seconds before crashing. I have allready re-named catalog previews to Lightroom Catalog Previews(OLD).lrdata which got it running. I then removed all the missing files but still having the same issues. Any idea how to fix this? It seems to have something to do with finding a correct a "path" I think.
TIA

Here is the truncated error code. I cannot post all the code in this forum because it is too long.

Hi Rob,

I've never used 'Face Tagging'

I have already installed LR6.14 on a Mini running Yosemite and it worked beautifully. I'm thinking maybe the MacPro should be upgraded to Yosemite first maybe???? The Mini upgrade was from LR4 so not sure if that makes any difference. Both Mini and MacPro are scheduled to be upgraded to High Sierra. LR6.14 is the only one that will run on HS from my understanding. Also, I'm making sure other OS-sensitive apps keep running as the upgrades are being made.

Below are the error messages I get when trying to open 6.14 on the MacPro. Also, I thought the error message from the report was important where it says:
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000101001180

Thanks

I am hopeless at understanding code- so others will need to provide more answers on that.

This link gives some clues about the 'Changing Modules' error-
https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/error-changing-modules-lightroom.html

This one is about the "Previews" error-
https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/lightroom-gives-error-preview-cache.html

And this one (although specifically for Windows) might point clues to "Folder Permissions" in a Mac (Solution 3)
https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-c...-opening-catalog--occurs-in-lightroom-af.html

In your first post you mentioned- "removed all the missing files"- just what were you referring to?
There would be no reason to have both v6.0 and v6.14 installed. You must have- 1) Your image files. 2) Lrv6.14 installed. 3) A Catalog. 4) A Previews cache/file/folder.

Missing files are largely files that are on an old external drive that doesn't work anymore. Others were previews that are linked to another file.

Apparently there is no issue to having both 6 and 6.14 installed. I created a new catalogue for 6.14 and labeled the old one with (OLD) in the file name. I have to have 6 running until I am sure 6.14 is stable and running smoothly.

I'll check out the links you sent me.

Thanks.

BTW. I have already done the trash of preferences and the Previews.lrdata and it hasn't helped. Trashing the Previews.lrdata got 6.14 running and that's when I deleted the missing image previews but it is back to crashing as soon as I try to start it up. However, if I keep clicking on Reopen in the error message it seems to open. Sometimes it stays open indefinitely. Sometimes it crashes after it has been open for a while.
