Sync Issue with Keywords syncing between Classic & CC

I primarily use Classic, but I have been trying to utilize the Sensei based facial recognition in CC to batch tag photos and find myself running into an issue with keywords syncing.

This is a new catalog and I am able to add a keyword or person keyword to a photo in each program, but even though sync is on there is no syncing of the added keywords between programs.

Any suggestion as to what might be going on?
