I have accidentally imported some photos by date when I meant to have them in a single sequence (I've given one example, but I've got a few). I want to get rid of the dated folders, but it seems I cannot get rid of a folder without deleting the photo. How can I achieve what I want via Lightroom (i.e. getting rid of the sub folder withough deleting the photo), or would I be best to do it in File Explorer (I'm on Windows 11) and then re-link the photos to the folder?

In Grid view in LRC, select all the images in a dated folder (ctrl-a) and drag them to the folder where they belong. After that, you can delete the folder in LRC. Note that when you drag images from the Grid, you must drag with the mouse in the image itself, not drag by the border.

Thanks for that very prompt reply. The problem i have found with doing as you suggest is that Lightroom tells me the folder already contains that photo, which is logical given the sub folders are all included in the parent folder, but not helpful when, like me, you have created sub folders you don't want, which make the folder list too complex. I know iI can stop sub folders being listed, but I want them in some instances.

Just select all the images in a wrong folder, drag them somewhere/anywhere else - repeat for each wrong folder
delete the offending folders
select images and drag them to the correct location.
