Hi,

Having purchased a new Mac for my photography work, I have followed all instructions on how to transfer everything across, backups etc etc. I actually use Dropbox, so all of my Folder and File Structures are identical, and all of my Photos are also organised on Dropbox. Now I perhaps naively thought I would just install Lightroom Classic on the new machine, then click on the Catalog file to open it and everything would work, but when I double click on the Catalog I am presented with Lightroom a complete Grey screen and it doesn't do anything at all. Now if I go to File, then Open Catalog and do it that way, it just doesn't nothing. I don't really know what else to do here, so would appreciate any help. Also just to confirm, if I open up Lightroom Classic on my previous machine, everything works fine, so I know the Catalog is working and not corrupted. It's so strange.

thanks in advance.

thanks Paul, I will give that a try !! I am finding permission issues with folders ever since building this machine, so you may be onto something there!

Just to let you know, I just spend 3 hours with an Adobe Tech controlling my new M1 Mac, and it took that long for him to resolve it. I couldn't even tell you what he did, but he tried everything for 3 hours and finally it worked. I think it was to do with adding my name/Admin to the permissions of the Lightroom App, and also copying the lrcat file to the Desktop and back again, but I could be wrong. Anyway, if anyone else has this, perhaps Adobe Chat is the way to go as that took him AGES to resolve. thanks Paul also, as you steered me in the right direction, much appreciated!
