Is this daft? (saving space on laptop)

My Mac Pro is the mothership with all photos and libraries.

I use my Laptop primarily to be able to show photos to family and friends away from home.

I use Chronosync to maintain a one way mirror copy of the library and photos on the laptop.

This means that on the laptop I have both the actual photos (c 11'Gb) AND 1:1 previews in the library (c 5' Gb).

I am thinking of not keeping the actual photos on the laptop at all since it seems all viewing option can work from the previews, saving 11'Gb on the laptop.

Are there any gotchas I am missing?

The only one I can think of is that I couldn't burn a folder of photos to a disk for anybody while away, though I think Lightroom Viewer would allow me to recover actual jpegs from the 1:1 previews if necessary.

Only glitch you're missing is you can't use the Develop module as that requires the original files. But for keywording, slideshows, that kind of thing, offline files would be fine.
