Is there a way to filter portrait oriented photos in LR2.5?

The metadata column to filter on is called Aspect Ratio. It will parse your images into Landscape, Portrait and Square.

Thanks. I found the Sort options on the Toolbar that was hidden. Where is this metadata column you are referring to?

Show Filter Bar ("\"), select Metadata Tab, at the right top of each column you find a little arrow pointing down. Click it, chose Add Column. In the filter type dropbox (where it shows None in the new column), chose Aspect Ratio.
