I’m running 13.3 on Ventura 13.7 Mac, and now having no luck sharing a couple of new collections publicly. “Generating link” spins endlessly, and new “synced” collections don’t appear in my LRm or desktop LR as older ones do.

Similarly, dare I update to Sonoma? Sequoia is out for me due to some audio app considerations.

Thanks for your experience, tips and/or resources.

You could go to 13.5.1 if you're concerned about jumping to 14.0 so soon. It'll be listed in Other Versions in the ... button next to Lightroom Classic. 13.5 is way less buggy than 13.3 was.

Sonoma seems pretty stable, I'm not seeing any notable issues. I'm still holding off Sequoia at the moment.

Thanks for this, very helpful.

Related to sync - and your books - as a Classic user, I’ve only used mobile and cloud desktop for sharing collections from my classic homebase, and I am confused with how the versions do, and don’t play with each other especially in terms of meta-data and syncing. I’d like to do a bit more with them. Which book will best help me understand this? And I realize the answer may be both

Prior to v13.3 the sync process was awkward and often got stuck. In v13.3 the sync process was changed and now works but seems to have bugs especially for the Windows version of LrC.
Even in the sync process prior to v13.3 I managed to get LrC to sync and resolve issues. V13.5 and v13,51 addressed some sync process bug and v14.0.1 is even better. There are much more sync diagnostic data available to identify and resolve sync issues that may still occur. Since the new sync process was introduced I have had one sync issue that I was able to resolve only by deleting Sync.lrdata
Sync Limitations are listed in this link: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/limitations-syncing-classic-with-cloud/

I have adpted Lr mobile as my front end to may master catalog in LrC. With knowledge of the sync limitations listed above, I use Lightroom on my iPadPro for importing anf travel doing basic edits and creating quick albums for sharing. I mark culled images as rejected and delete them in LrC. I save my keywording for LrC because of the one way one time sync of keywords.

That "one way one time sync of keywords" is no longer available. It was removed, either by accident or design, in the 13.3 sync upgrade. At the same time, location data now syncs on that original "one way one time" basis but without the need to save metadata to XMP first.

Yep, the Cloud Sync chapter in the Classic book is the way to go. The table of what does/doesn't sync is replicated in that blog post that Clee linked to.

In my experience, still not working well.

I frequently find that after a few edits (particularly clusters of flags, ratings, or keywords), that everything wedges. Things like clicking the Pick flag no longer work (the flag stays unset in the grid or loupe) - in fact, they work, but are queued behind something that could easily take an hour or two to finish. It appear to be a sync issue, because once it has caught up, pausing sync seems to make the problem go away. But the after turning on sync, it's easily stuck -- usually with a whole set of images in LR "downloading develop data" - even though I almost never edit in LR.

I also find that it's frequent that when I'm editing a single photo, that viewing a different photo and returning to the edited photo often appears to have "lost" the edits I've just performed. What appear to be happening is that the edits are synced up to Lr and then synced back to LrC, and it's not uncommon to watch the History panel in LrC revert to empty, then gradually fill in with the edits performed 5 or 10 minutes previously, until with a long lag, the edits are all "restored".

This superficially manifests as a giant performance issue; I'm convinced it's actually a sync issue.

My master library on LrC is 330k photographs, of which about 100k are synced to LR, where I do occasional editing, but never loading new originals (maybe a total of 10 pictures from a mobile device edited directly on that device.)

I'm on 14.0.1 and having problems uploading from my iPhone. Everything was fine on earlier versions. I haven't done anything on 14.0.1 . How can I roll back to v 13.x?

When you say uploading from your iPhone, do you mean via the import dialog using a cable connection? Or you're having trouble using cloud sync (the topic of this thread)? https://www.lightroomqueen.com/roll-back-update-previous/ is the instructions to roll back, but it's probably worth investigating further first, so which operating system are you using?
