Is it safe to remove previous versions

of LR? I've updated to 1.3.1 and still have versions 1.', 1.1, 1.2, & 1.3 installed. I would imagine that versions 1.'-1.2 can be removed w/o any harm, but would like to be sure before doing so.

You can remove all the earlier versions safely. I can't tell you how to do that on a PC though - sorry!

With good old windows, there's always a chance that by deleting an earlier version, it also removes files that the current version needs, although it will usually ask you first. If it does, just reinstall 1.3.1 (the download's the full program) and you'll be set.

I just checked on my XP desktop in the Control Panel application - never having removed any of the earlier versions of Lightroom it is still showing only one instance installed.

Did you look there?

On Windows computers the Lightroom installer automatically removes the previous version of the software. I'm surprised this isn't mentioned since the installer also prompts you to backup and test the integrity of the catalog in use. The Lightroom settings are not deleted though and they are used in the updated version.

Thank you all for the info. I just realized I said the other versions were still installed. Typo on my part. What I meant was the installation folders from previous versions were still on the computer. For some reason I was thinking that each upgrade/update would remove and replace said folders. Anyway, previous versions are gone and all is well. Thanks again.
