Is it possible to create an automated slide show in LR that can be uploaded to the web?

This might not be possible (certainly, I haven't seen any way to do it), but I selected about 140 images that I would like to share with family members for the memorial service of my relative - he is in all of these photos (thanks to face recognition I could easily pull them up).

I made a Track Gallery in the Web module and exported that to a file that I then uploaded to a folder on my website, but that requires a user clicking to move to the next slide.

I tried various things in the SLideshow module, but found no way to export any kind of file that I can similarly upload to my website - is this even possible to do?

TIA for any help

You can export a slideshow from the slideshow module as a video and upload that to your website. You'd need to embed the video in a simple html page, the actual process would depend on how your website is managed.

Alternatively you can sync the collection to Lightroom Web and share a web gallery link with your family. It'd look like a standard web gallery to start with, but there's a play button at the top that plays as an automatic slideshow.

You can export the Slideshow as a video from the LrC’’s slideshow module and upload the mp4 file to your website.

You can also put these photos in a synced, shared collection. You can create a Public Link from within LrC, which you can put on your website. When somebody clicks on it, they will be re-directed to a web gallery. They can view the photos on a grid, one by one full screen, or, by pressing the play button on the top, as a Slideshow.

That mp4 file need not be uploaded to your web site. You might just share it with your relatives via Dropbox or stick it on a USB stick or send it via Airdrop, whatever is most suitable.

I appreciate the help - I did create the video (it's 2GB) and uploaded it (the mp4 file) to my website but I don't know how to get it to run...not sure how to make a simple HTML page as Ms Brampton suggested...perhaps I will send a thumb drive as suggested.

Thank you all!

Instead of a web site, you could upload it to YouTube and set its permissions to Private, then share that URL and password with them.

With your web site, it may be best to forget about HTML. Just upload the mp4 in a zip file, give them the url to the zip file, and they'll be able to download the file and use it as they wish.

Focus on how they plan to use the video on the day. Is streaming from the web, inc YouTube, reliable enough? What if the internet connection isn't perfect? So they need to have the video on whatever device they intend to use.

I seem to recall that there is a slideshow plug-in for Portfolio. It would essentially import an album from Lightroom and then the Plug-in would have slideshow capabilities on the Portfolio site.

I have not tried this and have not had time to follow up to see how to install features in Portfolio.

Hi all - I would like to thank you very much for all your help!

First, I did find the way to create and export a slideshow - so thanks for that

Next, while I could not use Dropbox (size limitation) I loaded it on a thumb drive and tested on my own TV - it works, except that I set it to repeat (to make a loop that will just keep replaying) in LR but the TV did not actulaly do that, other than asking "play again?" (which would require human intervention)

SO then I did upload it to YouTube as a private video - again, it doesn't want to repeat itself but now the fols can see it at all.

So again, thanks to you all for being so helpful and quick in responding!

Not seen that. I wonder if you're thinking of a different browser-based Adobe app which was briefly called Slate, has been called Spark for much of its life, and was recently renamed Express. It certainly can import a LR album, but it's a slow way to create a slideshow compared with LR's Slideshow.

OK, I do see that problem with a small slideshow that I just exported. I seem to remember there's a quick and simple way to edit the mp4 and make it loop, or maybe it can be done in the app that's used to play it.

Thanks for the effort, John - at least I know it's not my doing something wrong.

But at this point it's not longer needed (other than for general knowledge - nothing wrong with that!) as this video is time sensitive - so the relatives who got the YouTube invitations are able to work with it as is...
