I need a new computer and, given costs, am thinking of a refurbished Mac - can anyone share their direct experience in this area?

Thank you for your feedbackI have no experience. However, I think an Apple Mac product will serve you well. Refurbished might mean a new HDD/SSD. The screen is probably original and so would be the MB.
Best machine would be refurbished by Apple As opposed to some 3rd party.

Thanks for sharingI purchased a refurbished MacBook pro from Apple back in 2013, used it daily for almost 10 years before upgrading to a new mac. I donated the old one to a worthy cause and last I heard they were still using it. Never had any problems and even the battery was still holding charge.
Thx KenIs this refurbished by Apple and sold by them? If so, then the risk is probably much less than if others "refurbish" a unit and sell it. Apple's refurbished products used to look and function like brand new years ago, and I would not have hesitated to buy from them. If that is still true, then it may be a good buy.

Thx for your helpful replyFriends have bought refurbished MacBooks from Apple and have had no issues at all. Note that you get the same warranty as new ones, and you can also buy AppleCare+ for them.
You can also sometimes find similar price reductions for new Macs from other retailers, and you can also buy AppleCare+ for them.
Have you checked the Apple Store on Amazon?
