I ran across this. It's labeled "exclusive" from I site I'm unfamiliar with, but the person interviewed is very senior in Adobe lightroom so it seems relevant:

He seems to explicitly not foreshadow any nearterm demise for Classic.
What's a little more disturbing is he addresses the absence of plugins in CC in a rather nebulous and roundabout way. I won't quote it here as it is longer, but look at "what about plugins" in the text.
Anyway... interesting read, FWIW.
