Installing camera raw updates

I downloaded Camera_Raw_4_4.dmg to use with my recently purchased Lightroom because it contains support for the Sony A35'. I've been wandering around in help (which is very hard to do, since it keeps wanting to throw me out to generic adobe pages instead of staying on topic) and can't find a thing about how to install something like this. I did a search here and in the plugin forum but nothing came up. Any help or guidance would be much appreciated, Thanks, Brandon

Lightroom doesn't use the ACR plugin in that file but has ACR "builtin". As the ACR 4.4 and LR 1.4 releases were pulled by Adobe, you will have to wait for a new release or download the Adobe DNG converter that supports your camera and convert to DNG and import those DNG files in LR.

Are you wanting to install the ACR plugin? The instructions for where to place the plugin on the Mac are wrong, the location is missing a / at the beginning. The correct location is:

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats/

Other than that the 4.4.1 and 1.4.1 releases are due around the middle of April-ish.

I'm a bit confused. The other reply says ACR is "builtin", implying that I can't install a new plugin. The translation to DNG seems to work ok, and I've seen a lot of words recommending that should be the path to go anyway.

In any case I don't have a mac. Where might I find those instructions? I would hope that they also give the windows location.

Richard is overworked. He is talking for Bridge/PSCS nor LR. LR has its own built in pipeline equivalent of ACR.

What is listed in the Dev Camera Calibration - Profile of LR is the version of ACR your camera was added. it will change with different cameras if you have more than one and they were added at different times. It also shows a late version where Thomas Knolls tweaked everything, IIRC.
