Installing 2.0

On your Mac, yes, that works fine, and it'll give you the option of upgrading your catalog or starting a new one.

Windows - I think it works... but hopefully someone else can confirm.

You can install both versions on Windows (although I've only done it on XP), but you can't run them both at the same time.

I too installed LR1 and LR2 in separate directories.
Either one runs just fine.
But I am on XP64bit and was told n that LR is not actually supported on this OS.
So YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary)

Hi

1.4 and 2 work find on my Vista based machine.

I am thinking that this thread refers to full versions of LR2 being installed along side of 1.x. But what about just buying the update? Wouldn't you have to have the original version there for it to update properly?
After installing the update can you then delete v1.x using add/remove programs, or does the new version use some of the old stuff therefore requiring v1.x to remain on the computer?
And one last question. I couldn't tell from the Adobe store site, but can the update be purchased in a box rather than download?
As you can tell, I'm kinda dense on this stuff.

Ernie, I believe the upgrade install just wants to verify your old 1.x serial number, and your new 2.' serial number.

I believe the 'upgrade' is simply a pricing issue. I believe the full/uprgrade software is identical, except for the s/n validations at install. Upgrade in a box? I would think so, but I don't actually know.

No, the new version needs nothing from the old version to work. (Except your old catalog and preferences to upgrade)

OK, thanks. That's what I was hoping for. I like to have a disc to keep in case something messes up on my pc. Hopefully I will get a new pc at the end of the year and I'll have the disc to install on that one.
Plus I only have 4' gig HD so I keep it as trimmed down as possible.

i installed Lightroom 2 and it delete my 1.4.1
don't know why
installed on different folder , xp
