Installation of Rosetta on MacBook M5.

My wife uses an Epson ET-2860 for for printing from Windows 11 for printing documents etc as she mostly WFH. I don’t have one. Recently I tried to it from my Mac and found the drivers supplied don’t have all the functionality. These are no new drivers the O/S could find.
I tried to to download from their website, even though their latest driver package dated June this year, but the installation require installing Rosetta. I am bit surprised that they haven’t really undated their software.
I am bit reluctant to install soon to be unsupported aid. Is it save to do as?

Does any of you using Epson ‘s pro range of printers on the silicon Macs, using Rosetta to install the drivers?

Epson is slowly rolling out Silicon based drivers. I have the WF2960 and keep getting messages from Apple that my drivers are still Intel. I just got new update messages today from the Epson Software updater app. Maybe these are Silicon based for my Printer.

Rosetta will be included whenever you add an intel app. It is already part of the OS. Just install the printer from the MacOS system preferences after downloading and installing the Epson Supplied apps ( https://download-center.epson.com/softwares/?device_id=ET-2860+Series®ion=US&os=WIN1064&language=en). In MacOS27, Intel Macs will no longer be supported, but Intel Based apps will still have Rosetta to translate the Intel code for Silicon until MacOS28

I didn’t want to install intel based drivers so late in OS renewal cycle. I will wait until Epson releases new version run on Tahoe. My printing requirements are modest or non-existent since I retired 6 years ago. I sometimes want to proof read (I make lot spelling errors when I type!) before sending important letters.
