Initial Import and over exposure.

When I import images from a disc, normal process, all goes well and efficiently. I notice, however, that when I switch to the develop module, the exposure of each of the images seems to change or shift, such that when I "bracket" a series of exposures I loose the difference between the shots. I'm not sure I'm explaining well, but I use the histogram to confirm a shot, but once in Lightroom the exposure seems to go all to hell.
They all seem overexposed in Lightroom.
What am I missing?

My guess is that "Apply auto-tone adjustments" is checked in Preferences (first thing in the Presets tab). That would explain why bracketed shots all look the same. Try un-checking it and then importing another set of bracketed shots and see whether it behaves as you expect.
