Incorrect Lens information

Hi all. I have done a quick search but couldnt find anything to help. I have downloaded LR 1.4 trial and noticed when I imported some images that the wrong lens information is displayed. I used a sigma 17-7'mm and LR has specified the lens as a Tamron 35-9' f4 or other sigma lens. Just wondering if there is a way to correct this? Thanks in advance.

LR v 1.4 was recalled shortly after its release so I hope you have actually obtained LR v 1.4.1 the latest one.

Denis is quite right, use 1.4.1 -- 1.4 was buggy.

That said, this wasn't one of the bugs. There's no way to correct this within Lightroom; you'd need to use some other tool like exiftool.

Thanks for your responses. I just checked which version, it is 1.4.1. Does anybody know how LR recognises which lens is being used?

I believe it's just reading the metadata stored by the camera - only way to change it is to change the metadata using something like Exif-Tool
