I'm reworking my daughter's website to remove all the frames and bring it up to date. I've gotten everything working using CSS and dynamic web templates and now I'm trying to include the LR web gallery generated files. FWIW, I'm using the non-Flash version.

In the past it was pretty easy with frames and required no code modification. Just frame the LR generated "website" index.htm and everything just worked.

Since each new upload generated the same working code there was no need to do any site modifications after each upload.

How have others done this without modifying the LR generated files?

My goal is to be able to have my non HTML speaking daughter be able to do it herself as she was able to in the past.

Ideas? Links to resources or ideas?

A link to the proposed site would be useful. What Web Hosting is available? Can you use PHP or ASP? Does the web Hosting support Server Side includes? Also with a little Javascript you can whip up Client side includes that will manage the same task if in the unlikely event that Server Side Includes are not available. .

This was my recent problem and with invaluable help from members of the Forum I was able to get over the hurdle.

Within the thread

Sizzling Badger provided a link to a small amount of html code that helps to embed an iFrame within the site.

This is reflected in a similar way here

What I now do is to use the code in the html editor part rather than the WYSIWYG, paste over the url of the uploaded gallery, and then change the height of the frame size until I think it looks OK. I am sure that there are/will be quicker ways, but as a non teccy, this works for me at the moment. As an html novice, I am OK with the process, so perhaps this apporach will be acceptable to your daughter.

All best
Chris

Thanks for the replies. I'll try to put up a portion of the site later.

I've already been including an I-Frame in the "content box" div which works well if appropriately sized for the index pages. The problem arises when the detail views exceed the I-Frame size set by the index page generated by LR. We then get two vertical scroll bars one from the I-Frame and the other for the containing page (which would be there anyway.)

I guess I need to go back to the LR engine and see if I can set the sizes to be more consistent.

Hi Jim, I do pretty much exactly what you want to achieve. I build my website with Rapid Weaver and have iFrames that link to LR generated galleries. To update the gallery I just export a new one from LR, I don't have to touch the website code at all (unless adding another gallery) The trick is to play with the LR Web Galleries to get a good size so that the iFrame can fit without scroll bars. Then create a template for the web gallery so your images are always limited to a certain size and won't cause problems.

I was using the simple viewer engine in LR but now use the Elegance plug-in from http://www.photographers-toolbox.com/index.php as I don't like using Flash.

sizz: thanks for the link. i'll give it a look. i'd really like to end up with something that can easily accept changes to display of her most recent artwork. the frames have worked so far and an iframe may well be the best. we rarely change the other pages except to add news or press text.

i've moved the footer copywrite info to the bottom of the left hand nav column so it will always remain visible. this will reduce the chance it will be overlooked as the page is scrolled due a large enough frame to properly display her art.

i'm also going to look at mogrify to see if it can watermark the jpegs as they're being exported by the engine i chose to create the web pages.

we've been using the builtin engine so far and it is easy to use but has some limitations when it comes to titling the images. we use the non flash version.

tnx
