Ok, I'm all tied up in a huge mess and I need some help getting out. I have (had) a very organized system for keeping my photo files. They were in the default library.
Then I exported EVERYTHING as a new catalog. I set the NEW catalog as the default and from then on, have imported photos into that catalog.
Today, I went to import photos into an existing folder so I set the start number to like 152, so it would pick up where the last import left off. I have done this successfully many times before.
This time, when I looked in the library, Instead of the photos all being in the same folder, it renamed the original folder adding the file path to it and put the newly imported photos in another folder, also with the file path.
Apparently, the new catalog had copied ALL my RAW photos to the catalog folder on my hard drive so there are two copies of them.
I now have two copies of every photo, some, the catalog reads from it's own folder and some it reads from the previous, original folder.
I deleted all those photos from just those two imports and re-imported them. Now, of course, none of the develop settings are there, however, if I open the original catalog, the default one, in which I had edited those photos, I can still see the edits.
I'm trying to get those EDITED RAW files to show up in my other catalog but can't figure out how to do it. I would really like to not have to lose the edits and start over.
I don't want to have two copies of ALL my photos. I want to only have one, so I want to know which ones are being read from where and delete the ones that aren't being used by my new catalog so I don't have any of this confusion in the future but I can't figure out how to tell which of the two sets of photos my new catalog is reading, since it's split about 5'/5'.
SOMEBODY HELP. ARG. This is so confusing!!
Thanks for any help at all ...
Josh
